Last Thursday, December 12, 2024, was a momentous day for JIVE. In an informal gathering of the JIVE team and the JIVE Council, we held the final celebration of JIVE's 30th anniversary and its 10 years as a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC).
On the same day, we hosted the JIVE Council in Dwingeloo, where the unanimous adoption of our action and financial plans secured continued support for JIVE's success. This marks the beginning of our third 5-year cycle as JIV-ERIC.
JIVE's full members are the Netherlands, France, Italy, Latvia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. The MPIfR in Germany, the NRF/SARAO in South Africa, and the NAOC/SHAO in China are JIVE's participating research institutes and members of the JIVE Council as well. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the JIVE Council members for their long-term support and recognition of JIVE's value. Here’s to many more years of collaboration and achievement!
As 2024 comes to a close and 2025 approaches, the JIVE Management Team outlined our next goals in a warm message addressed to the JIVE team. Among them are acquiring new JIVE members, successfully hosting the forthcoming JIVE VLBI School, SFXC workshop, increasing EVN and JIVE visibility, and continuing our important contribution to the EC projects Radioblocks, ACME, and ERIC Forum, as well as to the European Space Agency - ESA's JUICE/PRIDE experiment.
In January, we'll roll up our sleeves and dive back into the hard work required to turn these goals into reality and keep EVN and JIVE a global leader in VLBI.
